On Wednesday’s broadcast of “Special Report,” anchor Bret Baier highlighted new polling from the conservative network showing Michigan Democratic Senate candidate Abdul El-Sayed with a narrow lead over Republican rival Mike Rogers.
Hume said the 51% to 48% margin was “just too small” to say the race had flipped. But looking at the broader political landscape, Hume acknowledged: “I would say that the Republicans don’t have much going for them this cycle.”
Hume credited the polls, the issue of affordability and “the mood of the country” for his opinion, and said he was struggling to see the picture changing significantly before Election Day.
“It could change a little,” Hume said. “Things have turned around a bit in the Strait of Hormuz. But I think Republicans have to worry about is, opinions have solidified – and not in their favor. And that number suggests that that may be the case.”
