Orgo-Life the new way to the future Advertising by AdpathwayPresident Donald Trump hurled an insult at CNN’s senior White House correspondent Kristen Holmes once again this week, this time when she asked about his dwindling popularity among Latino voters.
The terse exchange took place Monday outside of the White House when Holmes presented Trump with new polling information on the Republican Party’s chances in the midterms next month.
The poll, published by NBC News/Telemundo earlier on Monday, found that only 27% of registered Latino voters ― often cited as a demographic critical to Trump’s 2024 victory over former Vice President Kamala Harris ― approve of the president’s performance.
When Holmes asked what Trump’s message to those voters would be, the president insisted he’s “doing great” before dismissing her and her outlet entirely.
“You’re CNN, you’re fake news,” he replied. “My poll numbers are great, and all you have to do is look at the crowds we’re drawing, and every time I leave — that candidate will be losing — and by the time I leave, they’re winning.”
True to form, Trump then directed his words at Holmes.
“CNN poll numbers are fake,” he snapped. “And your whole outfit is fake, and so are you.”
The insults aren’t particularly surprising given Trump’s relationship with CNN, which he temporarily banned from the White House last month. They’re also in line with his troubling history of attacks on prominent female journalists, including Holmes.
In August, he lashed out at Holmes in the Oval Office, deeming her “very disrespectful” and a “loud, boisterous person” after she asked whether North Korean dictator Kim Jong Un had requested that the U.S. “scale back” its military exercises with South Korea.
Later that day, Trump’s team tore into Holmes on social media over an inquiry regarding Sen. Jon Ossoff’s (D-Ga.) remarks about the president’s much-scrutinized relationship with White House aide Natalie Harp.
After deeming Holmes “a disgraceful, humiliating embarrassment” to her profession, the White House’s digital communications team wrote on X: “Someday, your children will come across your disgusting and inhumane question. They will be sickened and embarrassed to have a parent be so callous and vindictive.”
