Orgo-Life the new way to the future Advertising by AdpathwayCNN chief data analyst Harry Enten has responded to Donald Trump’s repeated use of cherry-picked clips of his analysis during his 2026 midterm campaign rallies, including segments highlighting Trump’s continued support from his MAGA base and his status as the most admired president among Republicans.
“I will admit when I made those segments and presented them to the public, I did not expect that there would be that type of infatuation from the president of the United States,” Enten told anchor Laura Coates on Tuesday.
“Clearly, he likes what he saw in terms of those numbers,” Enten continued, saying he is “not really all that surprised” because both sides of the political aisle often run with his segments that paint them in a positive light.
“I guess I will admit I’m a little surprised that the president of the United States has played it so much at rallies,” he continued. “But then again, you know what? It’s 2026. There are a lot of things that surprise me.”
Coates pointed out that “there’s also a whole lot of hits from you” that Trump is not playing during his speeches.
Enten acknowledged that Trump “plays the clips that are best for him and his base,” but noted he’s “done many hits on Trump’s struggles with the non-MAGA parts of the Republican Party.”
Trump “won that vote handily back in 2024 and what we see now is not just that he’s lost support” among that group, Enten said, but that he’s now “actually underwater” with it.
“That to me is a potentially truly devastating sign. But that’s not all, right?” he added. “You could talk about Republicans, but at the end of the day, this election is going to be won and lost in the center of the electorate. And among independents, Trump’s numbers have just dropped off a cliff.”
