Some Michigan residents who voted for President Donald Trump in the last presidential election expressed buyer’s remorse on Tuesday during an MS NOW focus group.

Multiple swing voters who spoke to the network said they are not willing to vote for Trump-backed Senate candidate Mike Rogers next month over Democratic opponent Abdul El-Sayed.

“I was surprised that there wasn’t more support or more leaning Rogers in that group,” MS NOW analyst Elise Jordan said after the interviews aired. “You know, these cross-pressure voters, but then you look at some of the polling, and Abdul El-Sayed is pulling more from Trump voters at around 8% than, likewise, than Rogers pulling about 5% of Kamala Harris voters.”

During one panel, she asked the group, “What were you hoping [Trump] would change?”

“I thought, like, run it like a business, more like not just like your family, like bring more in for us for the Americans, get our economy up, and like run it like he wants America to be a wealthy business,” one voter said. “But I just think now it’s a Trump, it’s a Trump business.”

Another Trump voter said she had strong hopes he would make changes in foreign affairs, but she is now “very disappointed.”

“He’s a good liar,” another voter in the room chimed in.

Rogers, along with other Republican candidates in the midterms, is facing challenges because of his alignment with Trump, whose favorability is sinking as Americans grow sour over the war in Iran and the administration’s handling of the economy.

A recent Fox News poll shows El-Sayed leading the race with 50%, a slim point above Rogers’ 49%, among likely voters.

When asked if they would vote for Rogers in the upcoming election, few raised their hands.

One person who raised her hand for El-Sayed declared, “If I don’t vote for him, I’m not voting.”

“That’s how I would be too. I wouldn’t vote for Mike Rogers,” another voter said.

A voter who raised her hand for Rogers clarified that she’s “not happy about it, but there again, it’s either vote or don’t vote.”
