Orgo-Life the new way to the future Advertising by AdpathwayNewly released body camera footage from Tiger Woods’ DUI arrest last week revealed that the pro golfer told a deputy he was speaking with “the president” following his rollover crash, before he was taken into custody.
The footage, published by WPBF, shows Woods talking on the phone with someone before a deputy asks him to come back to the police cruiser.
“Mr. Woods,” the officer says, directing him to come back to the vehicle. “Can I get you to hang out down here with us, please?”
“Thank you so much. All right. You got it. Bye,” Woods is heard saying.
“Yeah, I was just talking with the president,” he casually tells the deputy.
HuffPost has reached out to the White House for comment on whether Woods was speaking with President Donald Trump.
The New York Post reported on Tuesday that Trump said he spoke with Woods, but did not specify a timeframe.
“I think he’s doing great, he’s doing good,” Trump told the outlet. “He tested negative for alcohol, as you know, and he is under a tremendous physical pressure from his various ailments, you know, the back and the leg.”
Trump told reporters following the crash that he considers Woods a “very good friend.” Woods is also dating Donald Trump Jr.’s ex-wife, Vanessa Trump.
The 50-year-old golfer allegedly had two hydrocodone pills in his pocket when he flipped his Land Rover in Jupiter Island, Florida, last Friday, according to the Martin County Sheriff’s Office.
Woods entered a plea of not guilty Tuesday on charges of misdemeanor DUI with property damage and refusal to submit to a lawful test, according to court documents.
On Wednesday, a judge granted Woods’ request to travel outside the United States to enter a comprehensive inpatient treatment facility, court records show.
