Humans Enjoy Killing Kids: Much like today, the ancient world was bursting with cruel folk untroubled by taking the life of a tender newborn child. But now we add many ‘sophisticated’ arguments from the pragmatic school of birth control. Here, we're lectured on the importance of having a humane opposition to children growing up poor, or unwanted.
Jesus as Abortion Target: So must a thirteen-year-old, single and pregnant girl inevitably lead to a dead fetus amidst a joyous throng of ovulating Leftists? It's interesting to analyze the birth of Christ when he had an adoptive human father, Joseph, a mother Mary aged somewhere between 12 - 14, without status or wealth. In other words, Christ’s Mother would today be mindlessly encouraged to abort. And yet--ponder: Had Christ been slaughtered like King Herod ordered, what kind of a world would we have today? A world about as friendly as a prison during lockdown.
How Old Was Mary When She Had Jesus? The earliest traditions: Non-canonical writings from the 2nd century, such as the Protevangelium of James, suggest she was about 12 years old at betrothal, while other traditions point closer to 14.
Herod Kills the Children
16 Then Herod, when he saw that he had been tricked by the wise men, became furious, and he sent and killed all the male children in Bethlehem and in all that region who were two years old or under, according to the time that he had ascertained from the wise men. 17 Then was fulfilled what was spoken by the prophet Jeremiah:
18 “A voice was heard in Ramah, weeping and loud lamentation, Rachel weeping for her children;she refused to be comforted, because they are no more.” Matthew 2:16-18
Reasons to Support the Abort per BBC: Follow are strong humanistic arguments in favor of ethical abortion: women have a moral right to decide what to do with their bodies; the right to abortion is vital for gender equality; the right to abortion is vital for individual women to achieve their full potential; banning abortion puts women at risk by forcing them to use illegal abortionists; the right to abortion should be part of a portfolio of pregnancy rights that enables women to make a truly free choice whether to end a pregnancy
What Impact Has Jesus Had on the World? “What has been the impact of Jesus Christ? What is His enduring influence?
- More books written about Jesus than on any other person in history.
- Nations using His Word as bedrock of their governments. According to Durant, “The triumph of Christ was the beginning of democracy.”²
- His Sermon on the Mount established a new paradigm in ethics and morals.
- Schools, hospitals, and humanitarian works founded in his name. Over 100 great universities--including Harvard, Yale, Princeton, Dartmouth, Columbia, and Oxford--were begun by his followers.³
- The elevated role of women in Western culture traces its roots back to Jesus. (Women in Jesus’ day were considered inferior and virtual nonpersons until His teaching was followed.)
- Slavery was abolished in Britain and America due to Jesus’ teaching that each human life is valuable.
HISTORY OF KILLING KIDS
Amazingly, Jesus changed history in just a three-year period of public ministry. Author and historian H. G. Wells said that Jesus was the person who has left the greatest legacy in history, when he replied, “By this test Jesus stands first.”4
Yale historian Jaroslav Pelikan writes, “Regardless of what anyone may personally think or believe about him, Jesus of Nazareth is the dominant figure in Western history and culture for almost twenty centuries. It’s from His birth that most of the human race dates its calendars, it is by his name that millions curse and in his name that millions pray.”5
HISTORY OF KILLING KIDS: Kathryn L. Moseley, M.D. cites The History of Infanticide in Western Society: “Two distinct forms of infanticide appear to have existed through-out time-the killing of the handicapped newborn, and the killing of the normal, but unwanted child. Of the two, the one that has under-gone the most extensive transformation has been the attitude towards the handicapped newborn. Before the rise of the Greek city-states, in the time of the Babylonians and Chaldeans”
Slaughter of the Innocents: Child Abuse Through the Ages and Today
Slaughter of the Innocents: Child Abuse Through the Ages and Today, Sander J. Breiner writes, “The prevalence of child abuse and infanticide in the modern world is not only puzzling, it is shocking. Actually, infanticide and child abuse predate our civilization by centuries. They are ancient problems, often more apparent in the great civilizations of our past than they are now. We have been killing, maiming, and abusing our children for as long as our history has been recorded. The question is, why?”
Don’t forget Cato: "Carthage must be destroyed" (Carthago delenda est) is the famous Latin phrase used by the Roman politician Cato the Elder in the 2nd century BCE. He ended every speech with this line to demand the total ruin of Rome's great rival city.
1st century B.C., Greek historian Diodorus Siculus claimed the Carthaginian aristocracy sacrificed their children in honor of Baal Hamon, whom the Greeks identified as Chronos, during times of crisis. This idea, constantly reflected in Greco-Roman literature, would endure until modern times.
The Carthaginians did kill their own infant children, burying them with sacrificed animals and ritual inscriptions in special cemeteries to give thanks for favours from the gods. Pulling together all the evidence, archaeological, epigraphic and literary, it’s overwhelmingly conclusive that Carthage did kill their children. Further, on evidence of the inscriptions, the killing was done not just as an offering for future favours but fulfilling promises already made.
Inca Empire Freezing (Capacocha): All across the ancient world, bumptious pagans slaughtered babies and were thrilled to do so. For example, in the Inca Empire, select kids were elevated to high Andean mountaintops, given intoxicating drinks and left to die of hyperthermia, or buried alive. Performed during coronations, famines, or major crises to secure divine favor from mountain god.
Ancient Israel Child Sacrifice: In biblical times, numerous false gods were worshipped by ancient pagans, and, sometimes by the Jews. Among these was Baal and Molech. Deut. 32:17 “They sacrificed to demons, non-gods, gods that they had never known, new gods that had come up lately, which your ancestors had not feared.” Psalm 106:37 “They even sacrificed their sons and their daughters to demons.” They built the high places [for worship] of Baal in the Valley of Ben-hinnom (son of Hinnom) to make their sons and their daughters pass through the fire to [worship and honor] Molech--which I had not commanded them nor had it entered My mind that they should do this repulsive thing, to cause Judah to sin. Jeremiah 32:35
Moloch, Ancient God Of Child Sacrifice
Perhaps no pagan deity was as reviled as Moloch, a god whose cult reportedly sacrificed children in a furnace set inside the belly of a bronze bull. Throughout antiquity, sacrifice might have been utilized in times of great strife. But one cult stands out from the rest for its brutality: the cult of Moloch, the alleged Canaanite god of child sacrifice. The cult of Moloch, or Molech, is said to have boiled children alive in the bowels of a big, bronze statue with the body of a man and the head of a bull. Offerings, at least according to some inscriptions in the Hebrew Bible, were to be reaped through either fire or war--and it’s rumored that devotees can still be found to this day.
Why Kill the Innocent? The fact of the matter is that humans have always been in love with killing babies for complex reasons. First because of the natural tendency of people to believe in superstition and evil. And so the impact of a child sacrifice is so shocking but human sacrifices have always been practiced. Second, the tendency of humans to seek avoiding responsibility even when responsible. Third, to save material resources.
Satan Wanted to Kill Baby Jesus: Obviously Satan wanted to kill Jesus when He was a baby to get rid of salvation and the opportunity of saving mankind--but we need to understand the fact that since day one mankind has wanted to kill other humans and it's not a coincidence that Cain killed Abel so early in the line of human succession
Toll the Bell: And so, let’s continually be vigilant to protect the most vulnerable. Because imagine a world without all of the loving support the ministry of Jesus birthed for over two thousand years. And most of all, let’s hallow God and His Son as we await the final toll of the Bell of the 2nd Coming.
