Four leftwing, Israel-hating organizations are bringing what they call the Gaza Children's Shroud to the Church Center for the United Nations on Wednesday, September 16^th, which is across the street from the United Nations headquarters itself. This shroud is described by its pro-Palestinian sponsors as a hand-inscribed memorial bearing the names of more than 20,000 children killed in Gaza.

The sponsors noted that world leaders will be gathering in New York for the United Nations General Assembly high-level annual session, which begins on September 22^nd. They invited UN missions to “send representatives to personally inscribe children’s names onto the Shroud and record a statement.”

The Gaza Children's Shroud circus in New York follows on the heels of the release of a grossly biased report by the so-called UN Independent International Commission of Inquiry on the Occupied Palestinian Territory. This example of the UN’s frequent blood libel against the Jewish state falsely accused Israel of deliberately targeting Palestinian children during the Israeli-Hamas conflict since October 2023.

The groups responsible for the Gaza Children's Shroud, which will be traveling to other U.S. and foreign locations following the Manhattan circus, are Doctors Against Genocide, Priests Against Genocide USA, Justice for All, and the NGO Committee for Human Rights.

“The Gaza Children’s Shroud brings the names of more than 20,000 children killed to the United Nations — a call to the world to remember that every child is sacred, every life has equal worth, and the genocide must end now,” said Dr. Nidal Jboor, co-founder of Doctors Against Genocide.

“The Gospel and the social justice vision of the Catholic Church compel us to stand in solidarity with the Palestinian people. The launch of the Gaza Children’s Shroud brings people of different faiths together to affirm the sacred worth of every child,” said Fr. John Heagle, chair of the Priests Against Genocide.

Sheer hypocrisy!

These Israel bashers could not care less about the “sacred worth of every child.” Only the Palestinian children matter to them, whose loss of life they blame solely on Israel even though Hamas and other Palestinian terrorist groups have cynically used them as human shields.

The shroud crowd is not honoring the names of the Israeli children who were slaughtered, raped, and orphaned by Hamas and its fellow terrorists. Of course not. That would undermine the false narrative the Palestinian terrorist apologists relentlessly spin that Israel committed genocide in Gaza when it was simply protecting its own citizens from further Palestinian terrorist genocidal killing sprees à la October 7^th. Understandably, the Israeli government is not willing to take a chance that Hamas will carry out this threat by one of its senior officials if given a chance: “The Al-Aqsa Deluge [the name Hamas gave to its October 7 attack] is just the first time, and there will be a second, a third, a fourth.”

Genocide requires a specific intent to destroy what the United Nations Genocide Convention calls “a national, ethnical, racial or religious group as such.” If Israel had intended to destroy the Palestinians in Gaza simply because of their national, ethnical, racial or religious group identity, it had all the military resources it needed to fulfill that intention quickly. Obviously, that has not happened. Quite the opposite. When the Israel Defense Forces (IDF) targeted the civilian facilities converted into military bases to root out the terrorists using them in violation of international law, it tried to minimize civilian casualties whenever possible. Providing Gazan civilians with advance warnings of impending attacks at risk to IDF’s own soldiers and opening safe corridors for evacuation are not the typical behavior of a country bent on committing genocide.

Palestinian schools are poisoning the minds of their students to hate Israeli Jews more than they love their own lives. The schools have incorporated material glorifying the October 7^th rampage in their teaching. Statistics of the number of Israelis killed that day have been used in math classes to create grisly equations. Nine-year-old students received praise for putting together such ditties as “At least 150 Israelis were killed in one day. What was the number killed in nine days?”

A teacher lionized the Palestinian children who died during the Israeli-Hamas conflict as martyrs and incorporated their supposed martyrdom in this sick equation: “In Gaza City, at least 150 children die as Martyrs [daily]. How many child Martyrs are there in nine days?”

Palestinian leaders and educators are raising the next generation of Palestinians to become proud terrorists with the promise of martyrdom if they die. The cycle of violence will continue unless the Islamist jihadists are finally defeated and are forced to lay down their arms, and the Palestinian school curricula are wiped clean of anti-Israel, antisemitic hatred.

The United Nations is adding fuel to the fire by persistently propagating the false Palestinian narrative that Israeli Jews are racist, neo-colonialist oppressors of the Palestinian people who are innocent victims of Israeli subjugation. As Prophet Isaiah said, "Woe to those who call evil good and good evil, who put darkness for light and light for darkness, who put bitter for sweet and sweet for bitter."

Expect more of the same obsessive animus against Israel, turning truth on its head and calling evil good and good evil, at this month’s General Assembly high-level annual session and beyond.
