Trump signed two executive orders Friday directing the federal government to expand market access for ranchers and small meat processors, modernize inspection procedures and increase competition in livestock markets. The administration is also directing a review of federal protections for gray and Mexican wolves, including whether they meet the criteria for delisting or downlisting under the Endangered Species Act. The moves come as the U.S. cattle herd remains at a 75-year low and beef prices remain elevated.
