Orgo-Life the new way to the future Advertising by AdpathwayLongtime Republican strategist Karl Rove shrugged off President Donald Trump’s tirade at him and Sen. John Cornyn (R-Texas) earlier this week that blamed them for Texas Attorney General Ken Paxton’s declining prospects in his bid for a Senate seat.
Paxton, the Trump-endorsed GOP candidate, faces major challenges ahead of the November midterm election after a slew of reported controversies, the latest of which is recently leaked audio of him blaming Trump’s unpopular war in Iran as the reason why his campaign is lagging in a traditionally red state. The New York Times reports that Paxton’s Democratic opponent, James Talarico, is leading the polls.
Trump didn’t factor in any of that, or the struggles of his own administration, when he went after Rove and Cornyn.
“Sadly, and very stupidly, John Cornyn, and his Liddle’ Buddy, Super RINO, Karl Rove, are doing everything possible to make it hard for Ken Paxton, the Greatest Attorney General in the History of Texas, and one of the Best in the United States, to win the upcoming Midterm Election against a Radical Left Lunatic, James TalaFREAKO, who is the ANTITHESIS of Texas Values,” Trump raged on Truth Social Thursday.
Rove fired back at Trump on Thursday’s airing of Fox News’ “The Guy Benson Show,” stating that it “sounds like he thinks Paxton is going to lose, and he’s looking for somebody to blame.”
“And if I’m weak and ineffective, how could I have done anything to diminish the power of the man who won 96% of Texas counties?” he added.
He told Benson, “I don’t know what the president’s talking about, and with all due respect, I really don’t care.”
