Orgo-Life the new way to the future Advertising by AdpathwayHow Henry VIII's Great Matter reshaped England. From Anne Boleyn's fall to the break with Rome, this film follows the king of six wives and the ministers who served him. Born at Greenwich in 1491, the young prince became king in 1509 to national jubilation. Early hopes with Catherine of Aragon faded after infant losses, even as Henry courted glory abroad and elevated Thomas Wolsey, whose meteoric rise ended with the failure to secure the king's annulment. We revisit the Field of the Cloth of Gold, Henry's learned Defence of the Seven Sacraments, and the papal title Defender of the Faith. Then comes the Great Matter. Anne Boleyn, schooled in France, refused to yield without a crown, stoking a years-long obsession recorded in ardent letters and even the reputed song Greensleeves. Cardinal Campeggio stalled judgement, Wolsey fell and died at Leicester, and in 1533 Thomas Cranmer annulled Henry's first marriage as the king secretly wed Anne. The Oath of Supremacy followed, the break with Rome hardened, and Sir Thomas More paid with his life for refusing it. Anne gave Henry Elizabeth, suffered a phantom pregnancy, then miscarried after the king's jousting injury in 1536. Accused of adultery with courtiers including her brother, she was condemned and executed at the Tower. Meanwhile, the Valor Ecclesiasticus exposed vast church wealth and the Dissolution of the Monasteries unfolded in two waves, driven by money and power politics that remade England's religious and social landscape. Jane Seymour delivered the longed-for son, Edward, then died soon after. A politics-first match to Anne of Cleves soured when reality failed Holbein's portrait, sealing Thomas Cromwell's fate. Catherine Howard's reckless liaisons with Thomas Culpepper led to her execution in 1542. Finally, the learned Catherine Parr became nurse, partner and stepmother until Henry died in 1547, leaving Edward VI to inherit. The rhyme endures: Divorced, beheaded, died. Divorced, beheaded, survived. #HenryVIII #Tudors #SixWives #AnneBoleyn #ThomasCromwell #CardinalWolsey #Dissolution #HistoryDocumentary
