A Dominican priest's telescope captured a colossal triangular UFO over Valladolid in 1965. What did he see, and how does the Vatican view extraterrestrial life today? In this chapter of EXtraterrestrials: They are Among Us, we revisit the September 16, 1965 phenomenon witnessed across Valladolid and Palencia. Dominican priest Father Antonio Felices rushed to set up a telescope and sketched what he saw: a metallic, gunmetal-blued triangle with a prominent belly and fin-like edges, shedding and reabsorbing smaller lights. Crowds watched as the object hovered for around an hour near Valladolid, Trapa, Buesillo and the Villanubla aerodrome. Pilot El Yodoro Carrion reportedly positioned beneath it from the Villanubla base, compared it to a passing airliner, and judged the craft several times larger. Analyst Javier Dominguez Hadoga digitally recreates the sighting, comparing details with later triangular cases such as Belgium’s late 80s and 1990 wave, and a Camino de Santiago walker who described a silent luminous triangle, three bright vertices overhead, and missing time. The episode also notes a 1995 infrared-recorded triangle over the Askandaras magazine in Lugo and reports of scheduled “contact” sightings in Galicia. Alongside the field reports, the episode asks how faith engages with the possibility of non-human intelligences.
