Folk-rock icon Art Garfunkel says he’s considering leaving the United States because he’s so dismayed by the direction of the country under Donald Trump.

“I don’t like America’s position at all,” the Simon & Garfunkel legend said in an interview with The Guardian published Friday ahead of his “What A Wonderful World” tour which begin next month.

“I’m not aboard, and I’m thinking of leaving the country, frankly,” said Garfunkel, who supported Sen. Bernie Sanders (I-Vt.) during his 2016 presidential campaign.

“It’s real that the planet is getting warmer, that the water’s rising, that so many people are starving,” he continued.

Garfunkel, 84, turned his attention to the Trump administration’s actions in Venezuela, where U.S. forces captured President Nicolás Maduro earlier this year.

“When Donald Trump took over Venezuela, are those the new rules?” he asked. “Just take over a country and run it?”

“It’s shocking,” Garfunkel continued. “And you think: how on earth are we gonna change the presidency?”

But the eight-time Grammy winner said that “Trump won’t last for ever” and “so we’ve got to hope.”

Garfunkel is far from the only famous American to contemplate leaving the country due to Trump’s return to power, with comedian Rosie O’Donnell moving to Ireland and Ellen DeGeneres and wife Portia de Rossi settling in England following his 2024 win.
