Why do people believe all this in alleged biblical detail on the back of so little evidence and so much that points the other way? It’s called ‘faith’ which means acceptance despite the lack of evidence. That’s fine but the contradictory texts on which the story is told were written long after the ‘event’ by who knows who in who knows what circumstances?
What I don’t get is why a ‘loving God’ would insist that his ‘only begotten son’ had to suffer horrendously on a Roman cross before he would ‘forgive the sins’ of humanity. It doesn’t seem to have made any difference to how the world has unfolded and warmonger psychopath Donald Trump is supposed to have been ‘sent by God’ and ‘saved by God’ in Butler according to the more extreme Christian Trumpers.
The events of Easter (mirrored in pre-Christian pagan beliefs) are biblically claimed to have happened in the ancient Middle East. If only belief in Jesus gets you into heaven what chance have all the other regions of the world had when they could never have heard of Jesus?
People should believe what they choose and good luck to them, but it makes no sense to me.
