Critics on Tuesday burst the Donald Trump White House’s bubble over its SpongeBob SquarePants Day post.

In the White House post, the beloved sea sponge is shown wearing the episode’s famous soda-drink hat but with Trump’s “MAGA” slogan emblazoned across the front.

One user edited the image so the hat instead read “Fuck MAGA.”

Another argued SpongeBob is “a pretty tough character to turn into a MAGA mascot,” given that his “entire personality is kindness, empathy, inclusion, protecting the environment, and helping complete strangers.”

Someone hilariously mocked the White House for watermarking the image, even though it was based on a Nickelodeon cartoon.

But perhaps the most biting criticism came from fans who pointed out that the entire episode’s joke is that the much-coveted hat ultimately turns out to be completely worthless.
