President Donald Trump bragged about his administration’s efforts to reduce crime in the nation’s capital during a rambling speech at the White House Monday — and social media users weren’t having it.

Speaking during the Rose Garden Club Lunch, Trump strangely alleged that Washington, D.C., doesn’t have “murders” anymore under his presidency, only to backtrack and clarify that there are still murders in the city but “not [that] much.”

He then veered the conversation to D.C. restaurants, saying they are “thriving” before suggesting that entrepreneurs and restaurateurs “can’t get a restaurant” because “there’s nothing available” due to the restaurants being “packed.”

He also alleged that before his presidency “nobody wanted to eat at restaurants” in the city, calling it “a disaster.”

Then the topic turned to how D.C. restaurants used to be hotbeds for robberies.

“They used to go in and rob the restaurants. You wouldn’t feel safe in a restaurant. It was like the old Wild West — they’d say, ‘Stick ‘em up. Give me your money.’ The whole restaurant is handing them money,” he said.

Trump said that if people tried to rob restaurants under his watch, they would be in “deep trouble,” adding, “We hit them very hard. We have tremendous military people involved and they do the trick.”

Social media users on X had a lot to say.

“Does anyone have any idea what he’s talking about?” S.V. Dáte, senior White House correspondent at HuffPost, wrote.

Another X user called Trump’s claims “such BS,” adding, “There are vacant restaurants all over the city.”

Multiple other X users poked fun at Trump, suggesting that he might’ve been “channeling Pulp Fiction.” The 1994 Quentin Tarantino-directed film famously features a sequence in which a couple, Pumpkin (Tim Roth) and Honey Bunny (Amanda Plummer), rob a diner.
