President Donald Trump abruptly paused his remarks at the Kennedy Center in Washington, D.C., on Tuesday to badger a photographer he claims has made him appear “heavy” in photos.

After taking a dig at the “fake news,” Trump apparently spotted New York Times photographer Doug Mills in the crowd during his speech.

Mills won a Pulitzer Prize last year for photographing the moment a bullet grazed Trump during an apparent assassination attempt in Butler, Pennsylvania, in 2024.

“Pulitzer Prize! Pulitzer Prize!” Trump exclaimed while gesturing in the direction of Mills. “Right, Doug? He got one for the bullet. He had the bullet. But he got – how many Pulitzer Prizes? Three Pulitzer Prizes.”

Trump then appeared to praise the photographers directly in front of him, telling them, “All talented guys. These are great guys.”

But then the president gestured to the back of the room and clarified, “I don’t like the people back there,” sucking his teeth while the audience laughed.

Directing his attention back to Mills, Trump suddenly begged the photographer to start making him look “thin” in photos.

“Make me look thin for a change, Doug,” he jested. “You are making me look a little heavy. I’m not happy about it.”

Trump frequently remarks on his body, or that of others, in public. In October, he compared his beach body to former President Joe Biden’s and said, “I’m not sure it would be appreciated on the beach, but I’m not gonna take a chance.”
