Orgo-Life the new way to the future Advertising by AdpathwaySen. Ted Cruz (R-Texas) says he witnessed President Donald Trump have a “technicolor” tantrum upon learning trillionaire Elon Musk had posted that the president was in the Epstein files on X last year.
The senator painted a vivid picture during Wednesday’s episode of entrepreneur Patrick Bet-David’s “PBD Podcast,” recalling how he and Trump were right in the middle of a meeting about school choice legislation in June 2025 when Musk’s social media bomb dropped.
“So Trump, now, he’s not on his phone anymore nearly as much,” Cruz explained, “so what happens when something gets tweeted is they print it out.”
Watching the process play out in real time, Cruz watched as devoted Trump aide Natalie Harp “comes in, prints it on a piece of paper and hands it to him, and he literally reads that tweet, and I’m sitting in the Oval, and his knuckles turn white.”

Cruz said he didn’t know what had made the president see red until he saw the printout moments later.
“It happens that second?” Bet-David asked.
“They hand it to him that second. ... And he was so pissed,” Cruz said. “I joked I learned some curse words I didn’t even know.”
Though the Republican said Musk’s post completely derailed their conversation about school choice, Cruz said he did find out “Trump had some technicolor views” to share about the tech mogul who had been his political ally.

In the June 2025 post, Musk claimed records from investigations into sex criminal Jeffrey Epstein were being withheld because of documents involving Trump.
Trump’s name did appear many times in documents made public after Congress compelled the Department of Justice to release the records last November. Those files included no evidence of Trump being involved in Epstein’s criminal activities.
Musk made the eyebrow-raising accusation as he was feuding with the president after exiting the so-called Department of Government Efficiency.
The Tesla CEO went on to delete the post and has since reconciled with Trump.
Cruz told Bet-David he was happy that the pair had made up, saying, “It was not good for America to have the two of them battling,” but added that the episode will remain in his memory as “a hand grenade thrown in the middle of everything.”
