White House deputy chief of staff Stephen Miller was shut down by critics on social media after he called the addition of a second Dan Sullivan on the Alaska U.S. Senate ballot “one of the most egregious attacks we have seen on the integrity of American elections.”

“Dems placing a second Dan Sullivan on the ballot in Alaska (a fake candidate designed to conceal who is the actual US Senator running for re-election) is one of the most egregious attacks we have seen on the integrity of American elections. It reveals pure contempt for voters,” Miller wrote on X Saturday.

Miller’s statement comes after President Donald Trump’s Justice Department, at his direction, filed a lawsuit aimed at preemptively blocking the certification of Alaska’s election results if incumbent Sen. Dan Sullivan (R-Alaska) loses.

The Trump administration claims that Dan J. Sullivan, a man with a nearly identical name to the current senator, “decided to run for Senator in 2026 as a Republican with the intention of misleading supporters of Senator Sullivan into voting for him.”

The Justice Department argues that some Alaska voters who wish to vote for Dan Sullivan may be confused and inadvertently vote for Dan J. Sullivan.

As many social media users pointed out in response to Miller’s statement, Sen. Dan Sullivan’s name appears with “incumbent” next to it on the state’s ballot. Dan J. Sullivan’s name appears with no party affiliation.

Other critics called out Miller for calling the issue “one of the most egregious attacks we have seen on the integrity of American elections,” pointing to his role in writing Trump’s Jan. 6, 2021 speech before the insurrection at the U.S. Capitol.

Crazy thing to say when you literally tried to steal the 2020 election and actively have fought to tip the scales in your favor through mid cycle redistricting https://t.co/XPJerYC4Lc

Oh, for fuck sake. It says "Republican (incumbent)" right beside one of their names.

Anyone who reads at a third grade level can figure it out. MAGA are the stupidest, whiniest motherfuckers to ever inhabit the earth.
