Seth Meyers thinks NFL fan Donald Trump’s excuse for not attending the upcoming Super Bowl — between the New England Patriots and the Seattle Seahawks in San Francisco — just “doesn’t track.”

Trump has said the game is taking place “too far away,”

But Meyers wasn’t buying it.

“It’s too far away?” the “Late Night” host asked Wednesday. “You know you have your own plane, right? Like, we weren’t expecting you to pile into a station wagon with Eric, Don Jr., and Melania.”

Meyers noted Trump’s recent multiple trips abroad and went on to speculate that there may be “another reason he might not want to attend a football game in the current political climate,” before cutting to footage of Trump being audibly booed during his attendance at a Sunday Night Football clash between the Washington Commanders and the Detroit Lions in Washington, D.C., in November.

A Zeteo report this week said Trump’s aides had advised him not to attend amid their fears he would receive a similar negative reception at the Super Bowl, and that’s the real reason for him skipping the showdown.

“Of course, Trump is worried about getting booed,” said Meyers. “His approval ratings have been at all-time lows and his party’s getting shellacked everywhere, even in deep red states like Texas.”
