The Secret Service is preparing security plans for the Republican Party’s first-ever midterm convention in Dallas as the 2026 elections approach. The two-day convention begins September 9 at the American Airlines Center and is expected to draw around 20,000 visitors. Officials say federal, state and local agencies are coordinating security, traffic restrictions and protest response while protecting First Amendment rights.
