Macklemore opens Ed Sheeran tour at MetLife StadiumRapper Macklemore turned his opener for Ed Sheeran at MetLife Stadium in East Rutherford, New Jersey, late last month into a political speech, labeling ICE a “terrorist organization” during a pro-Palestine rant.
He also called for Lebanon, Congo, and Sudan to be freed, as well as, perhaps inadvertently, Cuba and Iran.
“Free Cuba” and “Free Iran” are phrases used by activists to call for human rights and an end to the Communist and theocratic regimes.
But then, he called ICE a terrorist organization, calling for “all the people living in America that have to live in fear” to be freed.
“I say free Palestine. I say free Lebanon. Free Cuba, to the Congo, to Sudan, to Iran,” the rapper shouted.
“And all the people living in America that have to live in fear because of this terrorist organization, ICE!”
WATCH:
Macklemore also wore a keffiyeh, showed images from Gaza, and performed his song “Hindi’s Hall,” a nod to pro-Palestine protesters at Columbia University.
The rapper already made headlines for smearing Jews in the same concert rant.
Following the tirade, the Israeli-American Council (IAC) launched a petition, demanding that Ed Sheeran drop him from the tour.
