I am a researcher at the Department of Biological Sciences, University of Bergen, Norway. My interdisciplinary expertise spans the biosphere, cryosphere, geography, and climatology, reflected in publications and projects across fields and groups of co-authors. My specializations focus on biogeography, paleoecology, macroecology, and spatial analyses using GIS and remote sensing. I have a special interest on the Neotropics, from the Amazon basin to the high-elevation páramos, and am currently leading the "Past, Present, and Future of Alpine Biomes Worldwide" project  (Link). This project aims to take a deep dive into the biogeographical history of high-elevation mountain systems on a global scale and decipher the drivers of present-day alpine biodiversity. My research also includes understanding continental global vegetation dynamics since the Last Glacial Maximum and developing R packages for analyzing fossil pollen datasets (Link), while also strongly advocating for open-access research by datasets, code, and publications. Finally, I am passionate about creating innovative outreach materials, including 3D visualizations (“Sky islands”), books (“The miniencyclopedia of the páramo”), and articles for children and young minds (Frontiers).
