MS NOW host Michael Steele on Tuesday slammed President Donald Trump for thinking his chaotic Iran war would be “a quick success” and mocked him for expecting the same of his $400 million White House ballroom project, which has been ordered to pause construction.

“That’s right,” said Steele, a former chair of the Republican National Committee, after the clip concluded. “Donald Trump is apparently so bored by the war he started, he just couldn’t resist the urge to show off the latest pictures of his shiny new ballroom.”

The “Briefing” guest host continued, “So 50,000 troops are awaiting his orders in the Middle East, but the commander in chief is fussing over the decorative columns on his latest construction project. That’s where his head is at.”

Given that, Steele joked, “It must have been oh so devastating” for Trump to learn his “pet project” ran into a snag, as a federal judge in Washington, D.C., on Tuesday ordered construction to halt within 14 days and continue only if Congress authorizes it.

“The President of the United States is the steward of the White House for future generations of First Families,” U.S. District Judge Richard Leon wrote in his ruling. “He is not, however, the owner! ... After all, the White House does not belong to any one man — not even a president!”

The president notably divulged to reporters aboard Air Force One on Tuesday that the U.S. military has been building “a massive complex” beneath the ballroom, admitting it was “supposed to be a secret” and only came out “because of a stupid lawsuit that was filed.”

Filed in December by the National Trust for Historic Preservation, the complaint requested that a federal judge halt construction until it undergoes multiple independent reviews, is confirmed to adhere to environmental regulations, and receives congressional approval.

Steele noted that Trump has once again blamed others for his mistakes by lashing out on social media against the National Trust, California Gov. Gavin Newsom (D), and “who knows who else,” but has only himself to blame for ignoring the potential consequences of his actions.

“And now the project he thought would be a quick success looks like a giant mess with no end in sight,” said Steele. “Sounds familiar? It should, because that’s exactly how Trump’s war in Iran has been playing out before our very eyes.”
