MS NOW Justice and Intelligence Correspondent Ken Dilanian ripped President Donald Trump for avoiding military service following the death of former special counsel and Vietnam War veteran Robert Mueller.

“In an era when many young men—including President Trump—were trying to avoid serving in Vietnam, Mueller not only volunteered for the Marines after graduating from Princeton—he spent a year waiting for an injured knee to heal so he could serve,” Dilanian wrote on X. “I have always found that be the most compelling fact about him.”

The president avoided military service in Vietnam by claiming he had “bone spurs” on his heels. He also joked to radio host Howard Stern in 1997 about the danger of contracting sexually transmitted diseases from women he was sleeping with as his own “personal Vietnam.”

The correspondent’s comments came after his network broke the news that Mueller had died Friday at the age of 81.

No cause of death was confirmed, but the former special counsel who oversaw the investigation into Russian interference in the 2016 election had been diagnosed with Parkinson’s disease.

“With deep sadness, we are sharing the news that Bob passed away,” his family said in a statement to the Associated Press on Saturday. “His family asks that their privacy be respected.”

Trump reacted to Mueller’s death by telling followers on Truth Social, “Good, I’m glad he’s dead. He can no longer hurt innocent people!”
