Federal agents arrested a Michigan man on Friday after he allegedly threatened to kill FBI Director Kash Patel and an unnamed “associate” in a series of Facebook messages, emails, and voicemails.

The Justice Department announced the charges against Anthony Daniel Palazzolo, 42, of Chesterfield Township, on Friday.

Palazzolo’s arrest stems from a message sent to an individual identified in court records only as Victim-1 on October 8.

In that message, Palazzolo, who referred to himself as “Baby Bird,” wrote that he had “put a hit out” on the recipient and that Patel was “a dead mf too,” adding “Tell his punk ass I said it.”

The U.S. Attorney’s Office for the Eastern District of Michigan stated that after FBI agents interviewed Palazzolo at his home the following day, he continued to contact a Detroit FBI agent by phone.

Palazzolo allegedly left voicemails threatening to come to the office and “use deadly force against every single one of you government officials—FBI Secret Service will all be f[——] killed.”

Agents also alleged that he emailed the agent, a federal court in Texas, the Secret Service, and the with graphic threats of sexual violence involving objects and torture.

“We will rape you with tree branches on fire up you a– with nails in it down your throat too and up your p–sy and kill you torcher your cover up artists since you invovled with aggregated secual abuse on me mf,” Palazzolo allegedly wrote, according to a report from the New York Post.

Palazzolo appeared in federal court in Detroit on October 30 and was temporarily detained.

A detention hearing is scheduled for Monday.

Palazzolo faces one count of interstate communications involving threats under 18 U.S.C. § 875(c), which carries a maximum sentence of five years in prison.

Court documents indicate Palazzolo has an extensive criminal history spanning Michigan, Texas, and Florida, including a 2018 charge for falsely reporting a threat and a separate charge involving a false bomb threat.

During the FBI interview, he admitted sending the messages, apologized, and claimed he had no intent to harm anyone.

Palazzolo lives with his father about 30 miles north of Detroit.

Investigators traced him through his Facebook and TikTok accounts.

His cousin, Dana Palazzolo, told the New York Post that he has made similar empty threats in the past, including against President Trump, and that the family believes he was likely off his medication. She described possible “manic depressive behavior disorder” or schizophrenia and said he has never acted on prior threats.

“I can tell you when not on medication he has done this before. We strongly feel that he is no real threat and this is blown out of proportion,” she told the paper. “He threatened President Trump. He has never acted on any threat he has made in the past. When he’s on his medication he’s a good guy very shy.”
