“Jimmy Kimmel Live” guest host Ike Barinholtz noted on Tuesday that President Donald Trump predicted his war with Iran would be over in a matter of weeks when he initiated hostilities in February. Instead, a ceasefire announced last month is already over as the two nations resume hostilities and oil prices start to climb once again.

“I still don’t understand why he even started this war,” Barinholtz said in mock surprise, before launching into a coughing fit that also revealed the answer.

“Jeffrey Epstein was his best friend for many, many years,” the actor-comedian said between coughs as the audience cheered. “And he wants to forget how many times he’s mentioned in the Trump-Epstein files.”

Trump was once close friends with the late convicted sex offender, who died in prison in 2019 in an apparent suicide. In 2024, Trump promised to release the Department of Justice’s files related to Epstein if he won the election. Once in office, however, he and his administration worked to block those files from coming out.

But that may be just scratching the surface. Rep. Jamie Raskin (D-Md.) said a search for Trump’s name in the unredacted files that lawmakers had access to returned “more than a million results.”
