Kanye West allowed to perform in the Netherlands by Bart Van den Brink, Minister for Asylum and Migration – ‘no valid reason to deny him entry’ – while I have been banned from the country and thus some 30 others in the Schengen border group for nearly 4 years for agreeing to speak at a PEACE rally in Amsterdam in 2022 when the message was we must put aside our differences and unite on the threat to ALL our freedoms. Apparently, we must unite across the religious, political, racial, and cultural divide to defend freedom is more dangerous than ‘Heil Hitler’. They took the tried and trusted ‘antisemitism’ approach with me and when they couldn’t make that stand up in court they changed their ‘justification’ to ‘he’s a threat to democracy’.

The irony is stunning.

The American rapper Ye may come to the Netherlands for his planned performances early next month in Arnhem. According to Minister Van den Brink of Asylum and Migration, there is no valid reason to refuse him entry, as the United Kingdom has done, for example.

Ye, previously known as Kanye West, made anti-Semitic statements in the past and marketed, among other things, T-shirts with swastikas. He later apologized for those statements, saying that his behavior was caused by a psychiatric disorder.

Van den Brink says that he “of course strongly” condemns Ye’s statements. “But at the moment there is no indication that that can be a reason to ban him.”

Public order
Yesterday it was announced that the municipality of Arnhem has a has granted a permit at the Gelredome for the concerts of the 48-year-old rapper, on June 6 and 8.

Mayor Marcouch said that he personally finds Ye’s statements reprehensible, but as mayor he has to look at issues such as public order, security and other safety issues. According to the mayor of Arnhem, those matters surrounding the concert are all well arranged.

Van den Brink also sees no reason to ban the artist in the field of public order and national security. Moreover, he points out that he must adhere to the European Schengen agreements. “If there is no other reason or the situation changes between now and the time of occurrence, it seems that it will continue,”he says.

Motion against arrival in the House of Representatives
A large majority in the House of Representatives previously supported a motion by the ChristenUnie and the VVD to ban the arrival of Ye in Arnhem.

According to Van den Brink, the House of Representatives has asked to investigate whether the rules need to be adjusted. “I’m going to portray that too. And then we have to make that assessment with parliament,” said the minister.
