Orgo-Life the new way to the future Advertising by AdpathwayJimmy Fallon on Monday put President Donald Trump’s Iran war ceasefire collapse into terms that World Cup fans could understand. (Watch from the start below.)
But first the “Tonight Show” host dug into the new movie version of Homer’s “The Odyssey” to dig at the president.
“‘The Odyssey’ is about a man who goes to war and then gets completely lost,” Fallon said. “And speaking of, President Trump is in the news.”
He waited for the laughs to die down before he resumed:
“The war in Iran has restarted after Trump’s ceasefire once again fell apart. This one felt less like a ceasefire. More of a hydration break, don’t you think?”
Mandated water-drinking interludes about midway through each half of World Cup games have been a point of conversation.
Fallon wasn’t done riding Trump for the dragged-out conflict in Iran.
“I’m not saying the ceasefire is in trouble but right now Mitch McConnell is in better shape,” he said of the 84-year-old GOP Kentucky senator. In a statement from McConnell’s office Sunday following weeks of mysterious silence on his health, the senator revealed that he had been hospitalized after a fall.
Trump recently copped to the ceasefire ceasing in typical diplomatic terms.
“I don’t want to deal with them anymore; they’re scum,” he said.
Calling the Iranians “vicious, violent people,” he added, “It’s just a waste of time dealing with them. ... As far as I’m concerned, it’s over.”
