Orgo-Life the new way to the future Advertising by AdpathwayRep. Jasmine Crockett (D-Texas) called out President Donald Trump’s response to director Rob Reiner’s killing, saying she has “no words for where we are in this country.”
“That is a problem. Like, as we are sitting here saying, ‘Hey, let’s denounce political violence,’ he continues to kind of fan these flames, or send these messages that, if it’s on behalf of this, then it’s completely understandable,” Crockett said in an interview with political commentator Brian Tyler Cohen posted Monday.
The president received major backlash over a post he made Monday addressing Reiner’s killing, claiming that the famed “A Few Good Men” director and his wife had died “reportedly due to the anger he caused others through his massive, unyielding, and incurable affliction with a mind crippling disease known as TRUMP DERANGEMENT SYNDROME.”
Trump has since doubled down, saying, “I wasn’t a fan of his at all.”
Crockett told Cohen she does not understand the moment Americans are in where it is acceptable for the president to make that comment “after a tragic death, before having any information.”
“And even if you have the information, the idea that you’re like, ‘Yeah, it’s basically because he was anti-MAGA,’ and it’s almost like you’re giving a pass for it, and it’s almost like there’s a permission structure that if something happens to you, but you were anti-MAGA, it’s OK,” Crockett said.
The sitting President of the United States looked at the death of Rob Reiner and decided it was an opportunity to “score” political points.
Let me be very clear: this was a horrific tragedy. Families are mourning. This is not a campaign rally.

When asked by Cohen if Trump’s post had any impact on “any perceived moral high ground that the right was seeking to achieve” following conservative podcaster Charlie Kirk’s killing, Crockett said it is “yet just another example” of the president’s hypocrisy.
“But honestly, besides the hypocrisy, it’s just kind of disgusting,”Crockett argued. “I mean, I just can’t imagine that anyone, whether you’re the president or not, would take this type of moment and let that be the conclusion that you come to.”
She asked Cohen to “think about the very complicated issues” Trump faces, and “if it’s going to boil down to this kind of very simplistic, really concerning type of thought process.”
“It makes me wonder more about, like, where is our country headed, and how bad of a shape are we in with him at the helm,” Crockett said.
