Drugs originally designed to treat diabetes have taken the world by storm with their use in weight loss and obesity treatment. But did you know they might be useful for a lot of other stuff, too? A recently published paper in Nature Medicine aimed to systematically evaluate the benefits and risks for patients taking GLP-1 receptor agonist drugs like Ozempic and Mounjaro (aka Wegovy and Zepbound). The data suggest decreases in suicide, schizophrenia, and even infection and disorders related to the brain, heart, and lungs.
