Fox News Chief National Security Correspondent Jennifer Griffin added her voice to the criticism of the Trump administration after The New York Times reported Friday that several of its journalists had been subpoenaed.

The subpoenas came in connection with the Times reporting on security issues surrounding the Air Force One jet given to the United States by the Qatari government.

“This action by the US government to subpoena reporters for reporting legitimate news on security concerns about Air Force 1 should alarm every American,” Griffin wrote Saturday morning on X.

The Times reported Wednesday that President Donald Trump swapped out the Qatari-donated jet for the old Air Force One as a security precaution related to the war with Iran. Trump claimed he left the Qatari jet in the United Kingdom to give people a chance to “tour” the jet, and flew on the former Air Force One for “old time’s sake.” However, when asked about the swap on Wednesday, he brought up the possibility of Iran assassinating him, calling himself “number one on the kill list.”

The new subpoenas compel reporters to testify before a grand jury next week. In some cases, federal agents showed up at journalists’ homes to deliver subpoenas, the Times said.

In her post, Griffin shared a statement from Times attorney David McCraw, who said, “The appearance of federal law enforcement agents on the doorstep of news reporters should shock the conscience of any American who believes in the Constitution and the press freedom it protects.”
