Greg Gutfeld insisted with a straight face Monday that President Donald Trump is wrongly depicted as a narcissist who worries about his polling numbers. (Watch the video below.)

The Fox News host played off “The Five” colleague Charles Hurt’s dubious claim that the president is unique because he’s “always willing to spend political capital on something other than just getting himself reelected.”

“Yeah,” Gutfeld replied, “[he’s] the complete opposite of how he’s painted as this narcissist who is worried about his poll numbers when in fact all he’s trying to do is build capital so he can spend it.”

Jessica Tarlov, the show’s resident liberal, was gobsmacked. “Not worried about his poll numbers?” she asked. “He says everything is fake!”

“When they’re low, he’s like, eh, whatever. It doesn’t bother him,” Gutfeld said.

Tarlov’s WTF expression at the camera said it all as Gutfeld cut to another segment.

It was the epitome of gaslighting. Just days earlier, Trump complained on that very show about Fox News’ polls, which included an unflattering approval number that jibed with other outlets.

“I hate Fox polls,” he said. “Honestly, whoever does your polls are terrible.”

He accused Tarlov of giving “fake” results, claiming he was “polling very high actually.” He has raged at the conservative network before because the findings weren’t to his liking.

The president is deep underwater in approval ratings as the Iran war rages on amid inflation.

But “Five” co-host Dana Perino said earlier that if his “tough” decisions in Iran affect the outcome of the midterms, Trump may not be all that invested.

Democrats appear poised to retake the House and still have a shot at the Senate.

“I don’t know what political price he could possibly pay,” she said. “He’s not running for president again. If it is the midterms, I don’t know if he cares that much. He’s gonna do what he can, but he understands history and knows that it’s probably likely that the Republicans won’t be able to hold it even if they tried. So the political price to me is not weighing in on some of these very tough decisions.”
