Orgo-Life the new way to the future Advertising by AdpathwayLawrence O’Donnell on Thursday called it a “violation of sanity” to interview defenders of President Donald Trump because they lie.
In a new controversy ginned up by the GOP, they’re lying a lot, the “Last Word” host said on the newly named MS NOW channel.
In fact, O’Donnell said they lie, were lying or were liars six times in about a minute at one point.
Congressional Democrats from military and intelligence backgrounds, including Sens. Elissa Slotkin (D-Mich.) and Mark Kelly (D-Ariz.), made a video urging service members to refuse “illegal orders.”.
Trump declared them traitors who should be put to death. Deputy Attorney General Todd Blanche threatened a Department of Justice investigation. And Speaker Mike Johnson (R-La.) offered a wee pushback to the president’s off-the-charts menacing but also said the lawmakers asking young troops to disobey orders was “inappropriate.”
“No one told members of the military to defy orders,” O’Donnell said. “They told members of the military that they should not follow illegal orders.”
This is where the “lying” starts to fly.
“Every Republican and every Rupert Murdoch-owned propaganda outlet that tries to smear those Democrats with the accusation that they told the American military not to follow orders is lying, and they know they are lying,” O’Donnell continued, “and they are consciously lying about what those Democrats said.”
“And that is the only way that those liars know how to respond to a situation like this,” O’Donnell continued. “It’s why it is a complete waste of time and a violation of sanity to bring Trump defenders on to television shows on subjects like this, because they will all lie and claim that the Democrats told the military not to follow orders. They will all leave out the word ‘illegal.’ They will all lie. That is how they do it.”
The lawmakers did not detail the nature of illegal orders that the military shouldn’t follow. However, the clip arrived after legally disputed federal deployments ordered by Trump into blue cities supposedly to fight crime. The administration has also been killing suspected drug smugglers at sea, raising legal issues.
Here’s the video message that everyone is talking about:
