CNN’s Pamela Brown on Monday hit President Donald Trump and his officials with a devastating supercut highlighting their promises that gas prices would “come down quickly as soon as” the Iran war wrapped up.

Brown highlighted how the national average has jumped from $2.98 to $4.49 a gallon since the start of the war (note: it’s now roughly $4.43 a gallon, per AAA) before tossing to the first clip.

“Once the national security objectives of Operation Epic Fury are fully achieved, Americans will see oil and gas prices drop rapidly,” pledged White House press secretary Karoline Leavitt on March 10, less than two weeks after the conflict began.

“We promise that when this conflict draws to a close, when this operation draws to a close, we’re going to see those energy prices come back down to reality,” said Vice President JD Vance during a speech in Michigan on March 18.

The supercut also features Energy Secretary Chris Wright, who, on March 23, predicted that prices “would go down quite a bit” upon the opening of the Strait of Hormuz and, on April 19, claimed prices had “likely peaked” at the time.

And Trump is a focal point of the clip compilation, too.

“The gas will go down. As soon as the war’s over, it’ll drop like a rock,” the president told reporters on April 30.

“It’s going to come tumbling down... you’re going to see prices dropping on gasoline like you’ve never seen,” he said in a speech the next day.

Trump has eyed a gas tax holiday to ease Americans’ pains at the pump. The move, if approved by Congress, could waive the 18.4-cent-per-gallon federal gas tax.

As analysts warn that prices could hit $5 a gallon, Trump is attempting to strike a deal with Iran to end the war, remarking in a Cabinet meeting on Wednesday that he won’t be rushed into a deal as he doesn’t “care” about the midterms.
