MS NOW’s Chris Hayes on Monday accused President Donald Trump of being “completely unbothered” by the killing of two U.S. troops in the Middle East after he was seen “partying” it up at the FIFA World Cup final just days later.

“Donald Trump has provided the country with another just unbelievable split screen,” Hayes said.

“The president of the United States, the first-ever FIFA Peace Prize recipient, yukking it up, partying at the World Cup finals while the war he started with Iran and then restarted faces one of the worst weeks yet and threatens to spiral out of control,” he continued.

Just days before the final and its Trump-inclusive trophy presentation ceremony, U.S. Central Command announced that two U.S. service members were killed in an Iranian strike in Jordan on Friday. The attack also left one missing and four hospitalized.

Another American service member died in Iraq during a “controlled detonation” involving a downed Iranian drone, per U.S. Central Command.

With the war escalating, Hayes stressed that Trump is “asleep at the wheel” and obsessing over minor details with “all his little redecorating projects“ back at home.

“Trump transparently does not care and can’t even bother to pretend to anymore. That’s the reality,” the host said. “The only reason he even seemingly bothered to comment on those deceased soldiers is because a little-watched news outlet had to call him up and force him to address it.”

Hayes argued that Trump would much rather “hang out” at the World Cup final, noting that the president and his family seemingly had a “grand old time” at the match on Sunday.

“The man was clearly just thrilled with all the attention anyway, right? That’s what keeps him going. Just look at him soaking up all the glory,” the host said as images flashed of Trump sticking around onstage as Spain hoisted the trophy.

He later went after the FIFA Peace Prize winner for starting an unpopular “regime change war of choice” that’s left thousands dead and has led to grieving for the families of American service members.

“And has left Trump utterly and completely unbothered.”
