Fox News Media abruptly cut ties with veteran anchor Maria Bartiromo on Thursday, ending her more than 12-year run at the cable news giant.

The parent company of Fox News Channel and Fox Business Network offered no explanation for Bartiromo’s departure.

“We thank Maria for her work over the lasts 12 1/2 years and wish her all the best on her next chapter,” a spokesperson said.

Bartiromo joined Fox Business in 2014 and served as the network’s global markets editor. She became one of its most recognizable personalities while hosting the weekday program “Mornings with Maria” and “Maria Bartiromo’s Wall Street.”

She also anchored “Sunday Morning Futures” on Fox News Channel, where she covered the intersection of business, politics, and public policy.

Bartiromo arrived at Fox after a high-profile career at CNBC. She hosted “Closing Bell,” one of the financial network’s flagship programs, and made television history as the first journalist to broadcast live from the floor of the New York Stock Exchange.

Bartiromo had already become one of America’s most recognizable financial journalists before arriving at Fox.

After beginning her television career behind the scenes at CNN Business News, she joined CNBC in 1993 and spent 20 years with the NBCUniversal-owned financial network. Bartiromo hosted “Closing Bell” and “The Wall Street Journal Report,” which was later renamed “On the Money with Maria Bartiromo.”

Her live reports from the floor of the New York Stock Exchange broke new ground for television journalism and helped turn the Brooklyn native into a Wall Street celebrity. Bartiromo became the first journalist to report live from the exchange floor on a daily basis, delivering market news amid the chaos of traders and ringing phones.

Her growing fame earned her the nickname “Money Honey” during the stock market boom of the 1990s. Bartiromo became such a pop culture fixture that Ramones frontman Joey Ramone wrote a song titled “Maria Bartiromo” after becoming a fan of her financial reporting.

The track appeared on Ramone’s posthumous solo album, “Don’t Worry About Me,” released in 2002. The unlikely punk-rock tribute cemented Bartiromo’s status as a rare business journalist whose name had crossed far beyond the financial world.

Bartiromo also won two Emmy Awards and was inducted into the Cable Hall of Fame in 2011.
