There’s something incredibly special about a home that has been built slowly, thoughtfully and almost entirely by hand. Mel designed and built this character-filled tiny house as a way of creating greater freedom and security in her life. What she’s ended up with is a wonderfully personal home, shaped by years of collecting, building, learning and making things work in her own way. Inside, the tiny home is packed with beautiful reclaimed and vintage details, including old shop windows, upcycled cabinetry, antique furniture, a wall covered in vintage maps and even an incredible Japanese spa bath. Nothing feels overly polished or precious. Instead, every part of the house reflects Mel’s creativity, resourcefulness and love of giving old materials a new life. More than anything, this is a story about what can happen when you take a big goal and simply keep working at it, one step at a time.
