A 13-year-old boy is recovering after surviving a brutal and seemingly random attack on the Daytona Beach boardwalk. Police say 44-year-old Jermaine Long allegedly approached the teen and slashed his throat, leaving him with 13 stitches; doctors say the injury was dangerously close to being fatal. Long, who authorities confirm is a registered sex offender with a lengthy criminal history, has been charged with aggravated battery with a deadly weapon and is being held on a $50,000 bond.
