The 70-year-old man who died after a helicopter crash near Doncaster has been named as Peter Smith.

His family described him as a "beloved husband, father and grandfather" who was "one of the smartest men".

He suffered serious injuries when the helicopter crashed into a field on Thursday and was pronounced dead at the scene despite the best efforts of medical staff.

The pilot, a 41-year-old man, and two other passengers, a 58-year-old woman and a 10-year-old boy, received minor injuries.

The helicopter was a private flight which took off from Gamston Airport near Retford shortly before it crashed.
